Kina (musician)

Kina (b. Kina Cosper January 25, 1969 in Detroit, Michigan) is an American musician best known for her single "Girl from the Gutter". She achieved prominence in 2000 with her self-titled album containing the single.
Cosper joined the Grammy nominated band Brownstone in 1995. She left the band in 1997 to pursue a solo career. Her only album, Kina, was released on July 18, 2000, which included the two dance hit singles "Girl From the Gutter" - which peaked at #21 on the Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart, and "Me" - which peaked at #3 on the same chart. The album also yielded the single "Have a Cry", which played on pop radio stations during the early summer of 2001.
In fall 2005 "Give & Take" and the song "I Love You" from her debut album Kina appeared in an episode of the UPN show Girlfriends. Kina's song "Sincerely" was featured on the major motion picture "Beauty Shop", and a single "For You" will be released in 2006.
Kina is currently pursuing small acting roles in film and television, as well as performing new material on stage at various locations in the greater Los Angeles area.
