Kimara Sajn

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kimara Sajn is a Canadian-American composer, songwriter, music theorist, and musician of Persian descent, based in the Seattle Washington area.

He has composed hundreds of works including: songs, concerti, conceptual pieces, musique concrete, and improvisation of various degrees of aleatory. He has recorded much of his music, often playing most or all of the instruments.

Due to a mysterious allergic reaction to the music business, Sajn produces (formerly) Cassette Tapes and (currently) Audio CDs in small quantities and delivers them to whomever he chooses when he feels like it. Recipients include friends, family, acquaintances, people he admires, and random strangers on the ferry. A sampling of his music is available via streaming audio or low-bitrate downloads from the Precognitive Records[1] site.

He records and distributes music under his own name and the names "+1" and "Polyethelyne Pet."

Sajn is the author of "The Theory of Composition and Event Dynamics" 1989, a theory which seeks to explain the human mind's affinity for patterns and repetition which gives rise to subjective pheonomena such as music and humor. The Theory of Event Dynamics was superseded in 1990 by the much more technical "Symbolic Function and the Spatial Dynamics of Event Structures."

Sajn lived in Santa Cruz in the early 1980's where he presented live concerts of his music and produced a recording for Splendrix Inc., a band/corporation which included modern composer Erling Wold.

Sajn taught music, composition, and rhythm at The Community School in Mendocino, California in the late 1970's and early 1980's. He collaborated with local musicians and produced a number of recordings for bands including Da-Da and Baby Fae and the Heart Throbs. Later he moved to the Seattle, WA area and became a professional software engineer.
