Kim Dong Hwan (キム・ドンファン) is a fictional character from the SNK fighting game Garou: Mark of the Wolves.
He is the cocky, self-proclaimed "Tae Kwon Do god" and eldest son of Kim Kaphwan. Considered the lazier and more outspoken of the brothers Kim, he combines the power of lightning with his father's techniques. He is constantly chewed out by his younger brother Kim Jae Hoon for his lack of initiative. He has reddish hair and wears a dark gray, almost black dobok with scarlet outlines. He somewhat resembles the famous Hollywood actor Ben Affleck.
In Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture, he is known as Kim Don Fan as a child. Ironically, he is also very shy in the movie.
[edit] Gameplay
Though he shares some moves and the same kick-based aesthetic as his father Kim Kaphwan and his brother Kim Jae Hoon, he differs slightly, in the same spirit that Ryu and Ken of Street Fighter differ from and resemble each other. Dong Hwan's air throw and air super Dong Hwan Kyaku make him a stronger air combatant, and he also has a one-hit super called Raimei Dan and his own rendition of his father and brother's Hou'ou Kyaku, fittingly called Ore-sama Hou'ou Kyaku (My Phoenix Kick).
[edit] Trivia
- One of Dong Hwan's special moves, unfittingly titled Leg Smack, is very similar to Robert Garcia's Genei Kyaku (Spirit Kick). It is unknown how Dong Hwan learned a move from the Kyokugen fighting style before facing an opponent using this style in his first tournament. That opponent of course, Khushnood Butt (Marco Rodriguez), doesn't even use the move, as he uses Tiger-style Kyokugen.
- Dong Hwan does love and respect his father, but seriously tries to develop a reputation of his own.
