Kim Andersen (jockey)

Kim Andersen was born in 1963 and grew up at the busy racecourse at Klampenborg Denmark. His father John Andersen, was a jockey in the 1960s and Kim grew up understanding the daily life of a jockey.
Kim was keen to follow his father after finishing his education. His apprenticeship was postponed for 3 years because his father retired due to ill health after being in the business over in 20 years. Both Kim’s parents thought it was best if he firstly got an education. After finishing school Kim trained as a confectioner before he first became an apprenticed to the champion trainer Franz Nutz. At the time Franz Nutz already had a number of apprentice jockeys in his care who they taught Kim a lot.
The first year as an apprentice there were no victories, but it did not stop Kim Andersen who persevered and were certain at that a day very likely he would win his first race. The first victory came the year after at the horse Three Font’s, and this was the beginning of an outstanding career, a career witch is at the top at the time. When Kim Andersen was apprentice with Franz Nutz he and his colleagues was not allowed to go home from the stables until it was clean and if Franz Nutz was telling them to do it all over they did.
Kim has been leading jockey at his home racecourse at Klampenborg for 11 years.
He has ridden with success in many countries throughout Europe and made too visits to Western Australia where he met with great success.,,,,
