Kim Alsop

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kim Alsop is a former college head football coach. In 1984, he was hired to restart the football progran at Samford, which had been dormant since the end of the 1973 season. In his three season with the team, Samford compiled a 6-21 record. He was dismissed after his third season and replaced by Terry Bowden. Following Samford, Alsop would accept a position as Strength and Conditioning Coach with Louisiana Tech under head coach Carl Torbush.

Alsop would later resurface as a college football coach in Mississippi at Jackson Academy, an independent school in Jackson, Mississippi. After a 1993 season when JA missed the playoffs despite having Ole Miss commitment Walker Jones at quarterback, Alsop left coaching. It remains unclear whether he resigned or was fired. He was replaced by Sherard Shaw.

Alsop played quarterback for a semi-pro football team in Tampa in the early 1960's.
