Cristian Alberto Peret "Kily" González (born August 4, 1974) is an Argentine football player currently playing for Rosario Central.
He played his first professional match for Rosario Central in 1993, where he played until 1995 when he moved to Boca Juniors. In 1996 he transferred to Real Zaragoza in Spain and in 1999 to Valencia CF. In 2003, he followed his former Valencia coach Héctor Cuper to Inter Milan. He was released by Inter after the 2005/2006 season, and returned to his first team Rosario Central.
Kily González is highly rated worldwide; in 2001 he was included in UEFAs 'Team of the year', playing on the left wing. He is known for his upper body strength, ability to whip crosses and passes into the box during the entire 90 minutes, and also a tireless workrate and dedication.
Kily represented his national team in the 2002 FIFA World Cup playing in all 3 games, though as a substitute against Nigeria and Sweden, and substituted against England. As a member of the national side, he won a gold medal at Athens Olympic games in 2004 under the tutelage of previous coach Marcelo Bielsa.
Kily González made his name at Valencia CF playing with fellow national squad members Roberto Ayala and Pablo Aimar. Along with talents such as Gaizka Mendieta and John Carew, as well as veterans such as Santiago Canizares and Jocelyn Angloma, Valencia reached the final round of UEFA Champions League twice in a row. He was then transferred to Internazionale, where he was largely inconsistent, mainly due to injuries. In July 2006 he got transferred to Argentina's Rosario Central.
The name 'Kily' came about when Cristian Gonzalez was a child. As a toddler, he could only pronounce his name as "Cristy/Kily", so his family nicknamed him 'Kily'.
