Kilwa (district)

Kilwa is one of the 6 districts of the Lindi Region of Tanzania. It is bordered to the North by the Pwani Region, to the East by the Indian Ocean, to the South by the Lindi Rural District and to the East by the Liwale District.

According to the 2002 Tanzania National Census, the population of the Kilwa District was 171,850. [1]

Within the district, Kilwa Kisiwani is one of the islands off the coast.
