Kilvelur is a panchayat town in Nagapattinam district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is 12 km east of Tiruvarur, 12 km west of Nagapattinam and 6 km west of Sikkal a famous Muruga shrine. It is famous for its magnificient Akshyalingaswamy temple that was glorified in the immortal song of Muthswamy Dikishidar - "Bo Sambo...".
