In the fictional Star Wars universe, the Killiks are a race of hive mind insectoid creatures believed to be native to the planet Alderaan. They build large moundlike structures on the plains of the planet. Long before humans came to the world, the Killiks vanished; this disappearance was depicted in Ob Khaddar's moss painting Killik Twilight.

The Killiks live in mostly independent colonies, or nests, spread throughout dozens of worlds in the Unknown Regions. Each colony typically comprises several different races of insects (perhaps sub-species) as well as so-called "joiners" assimilated from other races. Furthermore, each colony shares a collective mind between all of its members; all members of the colony mentally share all perceptions, thoughts and experiences through a telepathic link. Additionally, each nest is connected to the central nest, the Unu.

It is claimed that the Killiks were responsible for the construction of Centerpoint Station and the Maw. Regardless of whether this is true, they were almost certainly spacefaring at the time that these incredible works were created, which was many millennia prior to the establishment of the Old Republic. However they were exiled to the Unknown Regions by the "Celestials".

Little was known about the Killiks until they were rediscovered some time after the defeat of the Yuuzhan Vong. It was discovered that they were a hive-based species who, until UnuThul took control of them, were peaceful. The region of space inhabited by the Killiks borders on Chiss space; colonization near the border nearly resulted in an all-out war between the two parties, inspired by the so called Dark Nest. Only intervention by a Jedi task force prevented this.

Killik Twilight is an ancient piece of art that had been used to hide data on the Rebel Alliance. It managed to fall into the possession of the Empire and was stored on Grand Admiral Thrawn's flagship Chimaera. The picture was returned to Leia Organa Solo at the end of the Yuuzhan Vong War by Grand Admiral Pealleon of the Imperial Remnant.

The Killiks are introduced in The Dark Nest Trilogy by Troy Denning, part of the Star Wars expanded universe which center around the border conflict with the Chiss.

[edit] Weapons

The Killiks used a vartiey of weapons. Most of their hand held weapons are pellet guns. These could rapidly fire at enemies. Other hand held items were also used.

[edit] Saras

The Saras are Killik nests. They are highly artistic and were the ones who produced Spinglass models as a product to sell. These Spinglass models actually were to hide swarms of Gorog Assassin and spy bugs (also possible that they released chemicals that made someone become a 'joiner,' and affected their judgment), each one the size of a human thumb. Millions of these assassin filled models were delivered to the Republic Fifth fleet and the Admiral Ackbar Star Destroyer by Jae Juun and his Ewok partner.
