Killed or Cured is an album by The New Amsterdams recorded during the break up of The Get Up Kids and released via the internet in part in 2005 and in full in 2006. The first release contained only five songs, "Wears So Thin", "Watch The World Cave In", "Heaven Sent", "Drinking In The Afternoon", and "Strangled By The Thought." The album was available for download for free, including cover art, from The New Amsterdams website. Killed or Cured is a much darker album than the band's usual fare, due largely to lead singer Matthew Pryor's experiences during the break up of The Get Up Kids. For this reason, Vagrant Records thought it shouldn't be released until after the final Get Up Kids show. The album wound up being shelved permenantly. Matthew Pryor wrote "Drinking In The Afternoon" in a hotel in Japan while on the Guilt Show tour. The next day he quit The Get Up Kids.
