KIFI-TV is the local American Broadcasting Company affiliate for Idaho Falls and Pocatello, Idaho. It broadcasts an analog signal on channel 8, and a digital signal on channel 9. [edit] History

Founded in 1961 by Jim Brady, son of J. Robb Brady who owned and operated the major local newspaper, The Post Register. KIFI-TV was the third television station to broadcast in Eastern Idaho. It went on the air on January 21, 1961.

In early 1996, KIFI-TV changed from an NBC affiliate to an ABC affiliate, swapping with the longtime ABC affiliate KPVI.

KIFI-TV was branded as Idaho 8 for a number of years, before being branded Local News 8 in early 1999.
