Kieran Duffy

Lieutenant Commander Kieran Duffy is a fictional character in the non-canon Star Trek series Starfleet Corps of Engineers.

Kieran Duffy was the second officer (third in command) of the USS Da Vinci and one of the highest-ranking members of its S.C.E. crew. He had a romantic relationship with his superior, Commander Sonya Gomez, dating all the way back to Starfleet Academy.

Just before going on the mission that turned out to be his final one, Duffy finally proposed to Gomez. Surprised and not prepared for the proposal, Gomez left without either accepting or rejecting his proposal. Shortly afterwards, Captain David Gold sent Duffy on a solo mission down to a gas giant's atmosphere to disarm a "Wildfire device" that Starfleet had originally dropped there, but which was later discovered to be about to wipe out a sentient alien race. Duffy succeeded on his mission, but his spacesuit ran out of power, and he suffocated to death inside the planet's atmosphere.

Sonya Gomez was heartbroken by Duffy's death. She was angry at herself for not accepting his proposal, and even angrier at Gold for sending him to his death. She and Gold later made up on a shore leave trip to Earth to visit their families.
