[edit] History

  • Kids' WB! debuted on The WB, on Saturday, September 9, 1995, airing on Saturday mornings from 8:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. EST and weekday afternoons from 4:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m..
  • On September 7, 1996, the Saturday block was extended by a full hour, airing from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. EST.
  • On September 1, 1997, Kids' WB! started airing weekday mornings from 7:00 a.m.-8:00 a.m., and the weekday afternoon block was extended to 3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m..
  • On September 3, 2001, for reasons unknown, Kids' WB! ceased airing weekday morning programming, and gave that slot to the local affiliates.
  • On January 2, 2006 the afternoon block of Kids' WB! was replaced with the new Daytime WB block. As a result, the Saturday morning block got an extra hour on January 7, 2006, and started to run from 7:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., no longer affected by timezone "at the request of the local affiliates".
  • On September 23, 2006, Kids' WB! premiered on The CW. On The CW Plus stations in the Central time zone, Kids' WB! airs from 6 a.m.-11 a.m.

[edit] Kids' WB on The CW

On April 24, 2006, Kids' WB! announced its schedule as a part of The CW, using the slogan Too Big for Your TV. The schedule is as follows (note that Coconut Fred's Fruit Salad Island, Pokémon (which is now a Cartoon Network staple), Viewtiful Joe, and Yu-Gi-Oh! (The Capsule Monsters Arc aired on 4Kids TV) are no longer shown starting this September).

A number of stations that had been airing Kids' WB programming, but who are not joining The CW, stopped airing Kids WB! programming anywhere between August 19 and September 2, 2006. Some new CW affiliates, such as WUPA in Atlanta, have decided to air Kids' WB! on Sunday mornings instead of the traditional Saturday timeslot. As of Saturday November 18, 2006, Kids' WB!'s schedule looks like this:

[edit] Shows on Hiatus

  • Spider Riders (Several press releases report that Kids' WB! will air all 52 episodes, but others say there will be no anime on the fall schedule. 11 episodes have aired so far. Also, KidsWB.com seems to have redone their site at least two times since the removal of the show from the lineup, one which removed some other shows, but Spider Riders remains on the site. However, it still airs on Teletoon in Canada.)

[edit] AfterToons

Beginning February 28, 2005, Kids' WB! added the promo title "AfterToons" to the weekday lineup, and put special promotions in it, such as being able to play a MegaMan: NT Warrior game online, known as "Axess Air". The best players would have their games on the air. This ran until April 15, 2005, and was changed to "AfterToons Show".

[edit] AfterToons Show

Beginning April 18, 2005, Kids' WB! changed the weekday lineup promo to "AfterToons Show", and made it look as if the characters were acting in their shows, and the commercial bumpers included Kids' WB! characters doing acts on a stage, and a voice singing things like "Stick around for more AfterToons Show! Kids' WB!" or "We now return to the AfterToons Show! Kids' WB!" and featuring online Xiaolin Showdown games of "Raimundo's Sword of the Storm". During the summer of 2005, Kids' WB! did their second annual "Crash the Backlot Tour", where they tour the country to Six Flags Theme Parks, and kids could audition to be on the AfterToons Show. In August, Kids' WB! ran a contest to "Make a Mini Mucha Movie" where using a certain program, viewers could make a computer movie featuring ¡Mucha Lucha! characters. The top five where shown in the AfterToons Show. The AfterToons Show was discontinued December 30, 2005 with the rest of the weekday lineup.

[edit] Kids' WB in Australia

A local version of Kids' WB has being announced for airing in Australia and is starting on September 16, 2006, airing on the Nine Network and regional affiliate WIN Television. It will run for 2 1/2 hours from 7:30am to 10:00am Saturday mornings, with all presenting done from the studios of GTV-9 by Georgia Sinclair and Shura Taft. The current programming consists of:

It is expected that there will be no connection or link to the Kids' WB lineup in the United States due to the differing network rights in Australia to the cartoons currently aired on the American Kids' WB.
