Khrystell Burlin, born in 1975 in Condom en Armagnac, a small town in Southwest France, is a Video/Multimedia artist, Music/Video director, Contemporary Music Composer, Guitarist and Pop Singer. After studying music at the Conservatory of Bordeaux under the direction of Christian Eloy, he left his native land for the United States, before finally settling in Canada in 2001.
As a composer, he has engaged in several collaborative projects involving visual arts, film, and contemporary dance. Influenced by the American repetitive school and popular electronic music, his works have been performed in several concerts as well as receiving airplay on several radio stations, including France Musique.
Strongly influenced by the classical European culture and history, especially by the Antiquity and the Middle Age, his visual work has often been classified as Neoclassic or Postmodern. It has shown in several festivals and museums throughout North America and Europe, as well as in Asia.
Most recently, Khrystell Burlin has been involved in various projects in television, video creations for the Cirque du Soleil, video creation for W Hotel Montreal, the artist collectives Epsilonlab and Perte de signal, director Yann Langevin (Eloise, une histoire de Cirque), Music Video Industry (music video of Luce Dufaux and Daniel Boum), composer Ned Bouhalassa and canadian singer Jean Leloup (La mygale jaune). In 2004, his pop song ‘My Friend Do You Hear Me?’ was performed by Liege philarmonic orchester and got a price at the California Contest Competition. He also received a grant from the conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec for Theseus, his new multiscreen installation which is still a work in process.
As a researcher, he also wrote several articles focusing on music, film, and post-modernity.
