Kherülen river

The Kherülen (Herlen, Kherlen) river rises at 48°28′N 109°28′E near Hagiin Har Nuur, Khan Khentii Strict Protected Area, Hentiy Province, Mongolia, near the source of the Onon river and about 100 km west of Onon. Its source is near the watershed between the Baikal (Arctic) and Pacific basins. It flows south and east past Ulan Ereg, and then east to northeast past Choybalsan, entering China at 48°3′N 115°36′E, emptying into Hulun Nuur at 48°44′N 117°5′E, from where it continues as the Argun towards the Pacific Ocean.

The palace of Ögedei Khan was located in the Herlen valley.
