Khed

Khed is a town in the Konkan region of Maharashtra, India Ratnagiri District. It is an industrial town just north of Chiplun. It is a tahsil place. Khed has mainly factories relating to chemicals and pharmaceuticals with major companies having an industrial outlet here.

Pollution is a problem, and the acridic vapours often cause fog in this area.

Khed lies on the main Mumbai-Goa National Highway NH-17 and also on the Konkan Railway line.

Politically Shiv Sena has very stronghold in Khed. Khed has ancient Buddhist caves.

Khed is also famous for alphonso mangoes. The places worth visiting near Khed are parshuram temple, Panhale Kaji caves, Unhavare and Dapoli, Guhagar which have nice beaches. The Chakdev mountain is famous for mountaineering and trekking. River Jagbudi passes through khed and is really a nice place to spend time in company of nature, another River Narangi also adds beauty to Nature. Khed is one of the few places in Konkan which offers you a chance to spend time in the lap of nature without being far away from civilisation. Best time to visit is November to January. The people in khed are very friendly, Good hotels around the city, specially a hotel on mountain called Century is famous for its pahadhi kabab, also there is a famous restaurant Called Kalkai Krupa which is Famous for Wade-Mutton Dish. Poonam Super is also famous in GOA tourists. Khed is famous for it festivals such as URS of Jalal Shah Baba and Dahi-Handi & Shimaga Festival. Khed has natural and beautiful landscapes.

People of Khed are very proud of the Hindu-Muslim unity. We love eachother and stay as a family and enjoy all the festivals together.
