Khawaja Muhammad Zakariya

Khawaja Muhammad Zakariya (Urdu: خواجہ محمد زکریا) is a notable Pakistani academic and literary critic. He was the former Principal and Head of the Department of Urdu at the Oriental College, Lahore at Punjab University. He retired from that position in March 2000. He started his academic career at the famed Government College, Lahore in 1962 before accepting a position as lecturer in Urdu at Oriental College.
Along with numerous other essays and pieces of criticism, some of his published research and criticism includes the following works: 1)Qadeem Nazmein 2)Qadeem Asnaf-e-Sher 3)Urdu Mein Qataa Nigari 4)Naye Purane Khayalat 5)Akbar Allahabadi (Tehqeeqi aur Tanqeedi Mutalia) 6) Iqbaliat - Chand Nai Jihaat 7)Kuliyat-e-Majeed Amjad 8)Tafheem-e-Bal-e-Jibreel 9)Chand Ahm Jadeeed Shai
He also taught Urdu to international students during his entire academic career, including accepting appointments at the Beijing University for one year in 1992 and at a language institute outside of Tokyo for 3 years. in this context, he also authored a text called "Urdu for Beginners".
