Khan Habibullah Khan Marwat a.k.a Habibullah Khan Marwat /Justice Habiullah Khan, was the first Chairman of the first Senate of Pakistan, from 06-08-1973 to 05-08-1973 and consecutively elected as Chairman of the Second Senate of Pakistan for the period of 06-08-1975 to 05-08-1977. [1]. He also remained the Interior Minister and Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Northern Areas, Tribal Affairs and Frontier Region (present day called KANA Division & SAFRON Division), from 1962-1965 in Field Marshal President Muhammad Ayub Khan's Cabinet [2] [3] [4] [5]. Under the clause (2) of Article 49 of the 1973's Constitution of Pakistan, Justice Habibullah Khan also remained Acting President of Pakistan from 1973-1978, whenever the President Fazal Ilahi Chaudhry went abroad [citation needed]. Khan Habibullah Khan also held some other major positions of Pakistan, such as Chief Justice of West Pakistan and was the deputy president of Pakistan's North West Frontier Province provincial assembly from 1936 to 1937 while being member of the same assembly two times in British Raj [6]. He was also the first Leader of the House Chief Minister of West Pakistan from 1965 to 1966, in the time of One Unit. The assembly of West Pakistan used to be at Lahore. [7].

He was a Deputy President / Deputy Speaker of second Legislative Council of NWFP, from 1936-1937 [8]

Justice Habibullah Khan was one of the contributors and co-founders of Islamia College Peshawar. He was an alumni of Aligarh Muslim University, India. [9]

Khan Habibullah Khan also led many of the official delegations to froeign countries.

His marvellous visit to Japan in October 1975, while he was Senate Chairman, he led a Parliamentary delegation, tighten Pak-Japan firendship ties. [10]
