Khamoshi

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Khamoshi (Hindi: ख़ामोशी, Urdu: خاموشی, translation: "Silence") was a Hindi film made in 1969. Another film by the same name was released somewhere in the 1990s. The following, however, relates to the 1969 film.

The film was shot in Calcutta and has a rather tragic ending. It was made in black and white.

Asit Sen was the director of the film. Known more for his comic roles, he was originally a director.

[edit] Cast

Director Asit Sen was different from the actor-comedian Asit Sen. Director Asit Sen acted in only one movie Deep Jweley Jai (1959) in a role (the brief role in which Dharmendra appeared in Khamoshi) where the movie-goers actually could not recognise him because it was a dark scene marked with the baritone voice of Hemant Kumar. Later he revealed himself in an interview in the 1990s.

[edit] Music and Songs

The music was composed by Hemant Kumar and some of the popular songs (songs were written by Gulzar) of the movies are :

  • Tum pukar lo.. tumhaara intezaar hai (sung by Hemant Kumar)
  • Woh Shaam Kuch ajeeb thi.. yeh shaam bhi ajeeb hai (sung by Kishore Kumar)
  • Humne dekhi hai un aankhon ki mahekti khushboo (sung by Lata Mangeshkar)
