From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Khalil Beschir, (born 18 June 1982) in Khersaf, Lebanon is a racing driver who currently races in the A1 Grand Prix series for A1 Team Lebanon along with Basil Shaaban. Beschir began racing in 1998 when he went into karting. But didn't race again until 2004 when he competed in Belgian Formula Renault. His best finish was 6th at Spa-Francorchamps after starting 32nd on the grid. In 2005 he completed one round of the Italian Formula 3 Championship finishing 11th in both races at Adria. He also finished 13th in the Italian Formula 3000 Series but he competes only in 4 events and his best finish 5th starting from 15th on the grid. Currently he races for A1 Team Lebanon with Basil Shaaban. Beschir's memorable moment of the championship so far was quite a scary one. In the inaugural feature race at Brands Hatch his car rolled at Paddock Hill Bend after making contact with A1 Team Italy's Enrico Toccacelo. His best finish to date is 17th at Sepang.

In November 2005 speculations stated on the Internet and in some newspapers that Khalil Beschir has contacts for a move to Formula 1 as to be the first Lebanese and Arab driver in F1 History. [citation needed]

Beschir was one of only 3 drivers from A1GP to win an award. He won the award for "Most Extensive Product Testing".
