Khaira

Khaira is a village in Darbhanga district, Bihar. It is a big village. It is famous for its mango. Sirua, Jorja etc. is the neighbouring village. The villagers are well known for their hospitality. The Janau ritual is very famous. It is celebrated after about every 15 years. About one lakh people accumulate to see the occasion . It is performed on raths.

Khaira in divided into three parts Bungla tola (Northern part), purwari tola (eastern part), Dakshinwari tola(Southern Part).

Ancestors of Khaira come from Dharnagar, Rajasthan in early 20th century. They made their home near Bungla.

Majority of people in Khaira are Rajput by cast. They are very gentle and known for their hospitality.
Also Jat Sikh Khairas, hailing from the area around Khadoor Sahib town of Amritsar district (now Tarn Taran district), Punjab.

The main occupation of villagers are agriculture. Many people go to metropolitan city in off season to earn extra livelihood.

There is only one school in Khaira. Students from a nearby village also participate in classes there. It has classes from one to eight and for further studies, the teenagers of Khaira attend Ughra high school which is 6 km away from Khaira.
