Keyboard commando

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A keyboard commando is a bulletin board system user who posts authoritatively on military or combat topics, but who has no personal experience in these regards.

Keyboard Commandos who participate in internet forums about airsoft yet do not actually participate in airsoft are also often referred to as a "chairsofter". The two definitions can by used synonymously.

Alternately the term Keyboard Commando is used occasionally in political discourse to refer sarcastically to individuals who are viewed to be boldly urging military action or an aggressive foreign policy while writing from the relatively uninvolved safety of their computer keyboards. In this usage, it is sometimes formulated "101st Keyboard Commandos", a wordplay on the 101st Airborne Division.
