Kevin Norte

Kevin Norte was the first openly gay chair of the City of West Hollywood, California's rent control commission. Public records indicate that he is a landlord.
Norte was appointed by then-City Councilmember Paul Koretz in 1992 where Norte served as that commission's first openly gay chair for two-one year terms and Norte served on that commission until his domestic partner Don Norte and he moved from their Sunset Strip/Alta Loma Road condominium to a single family home in the Fairfax District/Melrose Avenue area of Hollywood in 1999.
Norte, a former amateur bodybuilder and his partner Don were avid runners and members of Frontrunners, where they developed friendships with fellow Frontrunners George Takei and his partner, Brad Altman.
Norte began his legal career as a Law clerk and is presently a Court Research Attorney for the Superior Court in Los Angeles County.
Norte currently serves as the treasurer for AFSCME Local 910, serves on the State Bar of California's Committee on the Administration of Justice,is a delegate to Los Angeles County Federation of Labor AFL-CIO ("County-Fed"), and is a trustee of the Log Cabin Republicans, a group known for not endorsing President George W. Bush in 2004.
In early 2006, Norte was appointed to the California Administrative Office of the Court's Trial Court Employee Working Group. The working group provides input to the Administrative Director of the Courts on the preparation, development, and implementation of the budget for the trial courts. The working group also shares information on other topics affecting the judicial branch and court employees. Also during 2006, the openly gay Norte was appointed as an Alterntive Member of the County Central Committee of the Republican Party of Los Angeles County for the 42nd Assembly District.
