Kev Atkinson (born October 24, 1985 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England) is a radio presenter and producer who has presented for and worked with various radio stations, both on FM and the internet. He has also worked in television, and is the previous voice of Gateshead International Stadium.

[edit] History and career

Atkinson has successfully participated in radio broadcasts since the age of 14, when he landed work presenting a weekend evening show on a popular RSL station in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, East End Broadcast (or EEB for short). Since then he has worked closely with hundreds of members of the community in Newcastle, training them in production and operation of studio equipment.

He is well known across Newcastle for his work in a "ghost hunt" done live on location at a local pub (The Rose Inn) in Wallsend. The broadcast was successful, and to date is the only such broadcast on an RSL station in the United Kingdom. The events in the ghost hunt attracted the attention of the successful radio and television presenter Alan Robson, who offered his support should the hunt continue. The hunt also achieved notoriety in the local press.

Aside from the ghost hunt, Atkinson is also known for inventing several on-air radio "games", most notably "Death Frisbee". The game involves a frisbee, laced with screws and nails, being thrown around the studio live on air, with the one aim of causing pain. The game has been played on three UK radio stations to date, and has proven to be popular. Atkinson has also controversially played a radio edit of the South Park song "Uncle Fucker" live on an FM station in 2004, provoking a mixed response from the surrounding community.

Atkinson was, from 2004 to 2006, the voice of the famous Gateshead International Stadium. In February 2006 he agreed a deal keeping him in the role for another year, only to leave the position soon after.

Atkinson also has experience in the field of television programming, taking part in the production of programmes such as Andromeda with The Sci-Fi Channel.
