KESQ-TV is a television station in the Palm Springs, California market, broadcasting locally on channel 42 as an affiliate of ABC, and is also seen in Yucca Valley on channel 27 via translator station K27DS. Founded in November 1968, the station is owned by Gulf-California Broadcast Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of News-Press & Gazette Company of St. Joseph, Missouri, who also own other Coachella Valley media outlets KUNA-FM, KUNA-LP, KESQ-AM, KDFX-CA and KCWQ-LP.

Along with other major Palm Springs television stations, KESQ identifies itself primarily using its cable channel position (NewsChannel 3). The unusual practice, also common in the Fort Myers/Naples, Florida market, (for example, WBBH) stems in part from the area's exceptionally high cable penetration rate of 83% [1], one of the highest in the United States.

KESQ historically has been the #1 station in the market in terms of Nielsen ratings and revenue. In addition to the highly-rated newscasts, KESQ features many of the most popular syndicated programs, including Live with Regis and Kelly, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!. Weekend syndicated programming includes Ebert & Roeper, The George Michael Sports Machine, 24 and Da Vinci's Inquest.

Dish Network [2] has announced they will offer Palm Springs local television stations starting November 2, 2006.
