Kern Place is known for its expensive prestigious homes and mansions from the early 20th century. The area lies just east from University of Texas at El Paso-UTEP. Kern Place is extremely popular with college and university students. The area is known for its glitzy entertainment district, restaurants and coffee shops who cater to both business patrons and university students. After UTEP's basketball and especially football games, UTEP fans pack the Kern Place due to its convenient location to entertainment businesses.
