Thanks for adding categories to these templates. Unfortunately, you forgot to place the category within <noinclude> tags, so that every article which uses the templates will be added to Category:Chemical element symbol templates the next time it is edited... I have changed {{carbon}}, {{hydrogen}}, {{nitrogen}} and {{oxygen}}: could you do the rest please. Cheers, Physchim62 (talk) 16:50, 27 November 2005 (UTC)

I note yopu mareked these tempaltes as "not sutible for use with subst:" but subst now lsits these aas to be saubstituted always and automatically. perhaps ypu will want to comment on this issue? I dodn't see why these templateas are particualrly unsuited for subst. DES ^(talk) 00:35, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

Yeah, Physchim62 made that originally. I just copied and pasted it to all the other elements. I don't know why it's there either. Probably a bot should remove them all, because that's too much of a hassle to go through them all manually again. --Kenyon 04:19, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

Hi, you don't need to add articles to categories and their subcategories. For example, if someone is a general in the Marine Corps, they should only be categorized in Category:U.S. Marine Corps generals, not also Category:U.S. Marine Corps officers and/or Category:U.S. Marines. So you might have noticed me removing a lot of redundant categories. See WP:CG. Nice work on all the USMC articles, by the way. —Kenyon (t·c) 21:49, 29 December 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the comments on categories. Is there a simple way to view the categories and subcategories, etc. in a tree. If U.S. Marine generals is a subcategory of U.S. Marine officers, if I categorize a general, should the name appear under the U.S. Marine officers and U.S. Marines categories?

No, if you categorize a general in Category:U.S. Marine Corps generals, they shouldn't be also listed in Category:U.S. Marine Corps officers and/or Category:U.S. Marines, since those are direct parent categories. Semper Fi! —Kenyon (t·c) 22:42, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
