The Kenwood Electronics company is known for making car radios.

They tend to sell the same model in two "different" versions a European one and an American one. The American one can only use odd frequencies while the European one uses even ones.

Although it is not widely believed to be so -- It is possible to switch between these modes:

It can be done like this:

  • Turn off the unit completely (not standby mode)
  • Press the [1] and [5] buttons down
  • While keeping them down press the power button to turn the unit on
  • Release the [1] and [5] buttons

and there you go!
