Kent Douglas Paynter (born April 27, 1965 in Summerside, Prince Edward Island) is a retired Canadian ice hockey defenseman.

Selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft, Paynter played for the Blackhawks, Washington Capitals, Winnipeg Jets, and Ottawa Senators.
