Kenny Burns
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kenny Burns (born 23 September 1953) is a former Scotland international footballer, most famous for his time with Nottingham Forest, where he played a vital role in their European Cup successes.
Burns started his career with Rangers and played 20 times for Scotland. He was a hugely influential and successful figure in Forest's European Cup days, when he formed a great defensive partnership with Larry Lloyd.
During his time with Birmingham City, he played as a striker, but when he switched to Nottingham Forest, Brian Clough and Peter Taylor put him in the centre of defence where he played incredibly well. So impressive was Burns, he was voted FWA Footballer of the Year in 1977-78.
At one time he was renowned for his 'wild man' image and while maintaining an aggressive nature, he also possessed a shrewd football brain and was always likely to score vital goals. He is still a popular figure at the City Ground.
