Kenmore is a fully accredited school in Arlington, Virginia. It focuses on art and technology. It places students into different teams from which their classes are taken. These teams are the Clippers and the Schooners for 6th grade, the Fliers and the Explorers for the 7th grade, and the Comets and Stars for 8th grade. Students who take English as a second language are generally placed in a seventh team, the Globetrotters. Though formerly known as the Apaches, Kenmore is now known as the less controversial Cougars. This is similar to Wakefield High School (Arlington County, Virginia), which changed their Warrior mascot from a Native American to a knight.

[edit] Renovation

After a long process, Kenmore's new building was completed for the 2005-2006 school year. The new building is state of the art, and contains a vastly larger auditorium, cafeteria, and library/media center. It also has several floors unlike the previous building.
