Kenja Communication
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kenja Communication is an Australian non-religious communication business, which promotes itself as a place where "spiritual understanding in a physical world can be obtained" [1]
The word Kenja is a combination of the names of the two leaders, Ken Dyers and Jan Hamilton. Kenja has offices in Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney and Parramatta.
[edit] Media attention
In November 1992 and again in April 1993 Stephen Mutch, a Liberal parliamentarian, spoke about the group in the New South Wales upper house, describing Kenja as "a sinister organisation designed to fill the pockets and stroke the egos".[2] [1](go to page, and scroll down)
Shortly afterwards, Dyers was charged with sexual offences against the two girls and two sisters of one of the girls, between the ages of eight and 15. After several trials and appeals, which lasted almost a decade, Dyers ended up being found guilty and convicted, jailed at Long Bay Correctional Centre. The charge was overturned in the High Court in 2002 on technicality. The Judges advised a re trial.[2]
In 2005, family of Cornelia Rau, a lady who was found wandering and mistakenly taken for an illegal immigrant, accused Kenja of contributing to her declining mental health.[3],Rau's situation attracted widespread media attention at the time. Hamilton denied any wrongdoing, saying: "We are not responsible for Cornelia's condition ... we are not a cult. It's a witch-hunt." [2] [4].
The group practises a form of meditation called 'Energy Conversion', It is not new and it was originally used as a tool by the Tibetan Buddhists for spiritual evolvement, as documented in the Tibetan Book of Great Liberation, where it is referred to as 'psychic osmosis'.
Mr Dyers was a Military Policeman During World War Two where he served overseas for two years, and a transport driver in Australia, where he served for three years until he was discharged in 1945.[3] (full army record)
The following list, published by Scientology, shows Mr Ken Dyers listed as an SP. An 'SP'is a suppresive person within the context of Scientology. Mr Dyers was a 'squirrell', which is the term used to describe a former member who has left to use the 'game' to make money for themselves.[4]
On 28 October 2005, Ken Dyers was charged in Sutherland Local Court with the sexual assault of two 12-year old girls, alleged to have taken place at the Kenja's Surrey Hills headquarters in 2001-2002. He was released on bail under the conditions that he attends Sutherland Police Station weekly and does not attend Kenja premises or events.[5] Mr Dyers has applied for a "permanent stay" in his current court case on the grounds of ill health.
