[edit] Trivia

  • He's one half of the seiyū duo "R-16", alongside Takahiro Sakurai. Coincidently, both men have voiced characters whereby their love interests are voiced by Maaya Sakamoto.
    • In Gundam Seed Destiny, Maaya voices Lunamaria Hawke while Kenichi voices Shinn Asuka. (Maaya also had a bit role as Shin's sister Mayu).
    • In Final Fantasy VII, Maaya voices Aerith while Takahiro voices Cloud. In addition, Kenichi voices Zack, Aerith's first boyfriend.
    • In Ouran High School Host Club, Kenichi voices Hikaru Hitachiin while Maaya voices his love interest, Haruhi Fujioka.
  • He's also a good friend of fellow seiyu Hoshi Soichiro; in the drama CD version of Ouran, Soichiro voices Kenichi's character (Hikaru), while Kenichi voices the twin brother (Kaoru). Ironically, in Gundam Seed Destiny, the two voiced bitter enemies as Soichiro voices Kira Yamato, Shinn's "nemesis" in the series.
    • Also, during his course of work in GSD, he is said to have somehow offended the writer of the series (Morosawa Chiaki), who supposedly wrote Shinn to be less likeable because of him. In fact, it was rumoured that during GSD's run in Japan, Kenichi was spat at by anti-Shinn fans on the streets.
  • One of Soichiro's nicknames for him is "Mura-Ken". Also, both of them are managed by the same company, as of 2006.
  • He has also voiced one half of a pair of twins in two animes.
    • Ouran High School Host Club
    • Digimon Frontier
