Kendari is the capital of the Indonesian province of South East Sulawesi. The city lies along Kendari Bay. Moramo Waterfall is located 65 km east of Kendari.

Main mining industry is Natural Rock asphalt deposits exist in large quantities in Buton Island, named locally as PT. Buton Aspal Indonesia or ASBUTON

Kendari is divided into 3 subdistricts: Kendari, Mandonga and Poasia.
