Ken Howard (born December 26, 1939, London, England) is a successful composer, lyricist and television director. The songwriting team of Ken Howard and Alan Blaikley (born March 23, 1940) was among the most powerful in the UK in the 60s and 70s. They were responsible for massive hits for The Honeycombs, Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich, Peter Frampton and The Herd, Lulu, and Matthews Southern Comfort among others, and were the first British writers to provide a million selling hit for Elvis Presley - I've Lost You. Television scores included Miss Marple, The Flame Trees of Thika, Q.E.D, Shadowlands, etc.
As a British film maker Ken Howard has worked extensively in drama, music and documentary films. These have included (for BBC) A Penny for Your Dreams, John Lennon- A Journey in the Life, The Miracle of Intervale Avenue, Open Mind, Mr Abbott’s Broadway, Sunny Stories (for ITV) South Bank Show profiles of The New World Symphony Orchestra, Danny Kaye, Frank Sinatra, Hakan Hardenberger, Johnnie Ray and Maxim Vengerov, Will Apples Grow on Mars? etc. He has been nominated for and won the Celtic Film Festival and BAFTA, BISFA, Emmy, Indie, RTS, Grierson ,Billboard, Banff World TV Festival and US International Film and Video Festival Awards.
He is a Director of Landseer Productions Ltd in London UK.
He is also co-founder and Director of Sophisticated Games Ltd, having co-devised the best-selling boardgame of Sophie's World and publishing the million-selling Lord of the Rings Boardgame as well as numerous other successful games.
