[edit] Most commercially successful American Idol?
Messed around with the images a bit, so they're bigger and they complement the text now—there wasn't really room for "A Moment Like This", so I just stuck it at the bottom, figuring it could complement the "discography" section. Everyking 04:58, 30 Jan 2005 (UTC)
"the most commercially successful"? Really? She's outsold Clay? RickK 08:42, Feb 20, 2005 (UTC)
- I would think so, but I couldn't say. Everyking 09:19, 20 Feb 2005 (UTC)

- She definetly has 64.145.137.34 13:20, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)
-
- She's gotten far more radio airplay in the U.S. than any other Idol, and thus has had far more success with hit singles. Regarding album sales it's closer, but overall I think it's pretty clear that she's the most commercially successful. Wasted Time R 15:52, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)

- Now that Carrie Underwood has had a single debut at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, it's no longer clear that Kelly has the best chart success, though she still has more overall success so far due to her greater number of successful singles and albums. *Dan* 15:11, Jun 26, 2005 (UTC)

- I don't mean to sound rude, but I don't see how that makes it unclear that Kelly has the best chart success. You acknowledged that she's had a greater number of successful singles and albums, but what do you mean by "chart success"? If you mean in terms of radio airplay, look no further than the tons of chart success she has had with "Breakaway" and "Since U Been Gone" (which is still the most-played song of the year, last time I checked) and see how "Behind These Hazel Eyes" is working its way up. She's broken radio records, like being the first artist in Billboard's history to top both the mainstream Top 40 and the AC charts simultaneously with 2 separate songs. Her album is still selling strong; it's a top 10/15 staple, and this week her sales have increased, and her album is back in the top 10, even after being on the charts for over 7 months. Her videos are quite popular in ranking as far as being streamed online and continually voted for on shows like MTV's TRL, on which she has already broken a record with her BTHE video, and she has become quite ubiquitous. She has a lot of mainstream appeal and chart success, so I'm not sure what you meant. "Inside Your Heaven" was actually released in stores, and the singles sold are included in the Hot 100 ranking (along with airplay I believe). But in terms of airplay of "Inside Your Heaven," it's been considerably less. During previous seasons, all the Idol winners and runner-ups had their first singles released to stores in the U.S., but none of their following singles were. And well, the sales of the single are often bought by avid American Idol fans just because they watched the show, and don't necessarily determine future success. It's too early to tell anything about how this will affect anything. - Reminiscent 05:23 July 6, 2005 (UTC)

FROM BILLBOARD.COM Ask Billboard May 24, 2005
My hubby and I are huge "American Idol" fans. Can you tell us what "American Idol" singer (not necessarily winner) has the highest record sales as of May 5?
Thanks,
Angie
Hi Angie,
How about we do album sales through May 15? Right now, the biggest selling "Idol" is Kelly Clarkson. With her two studio albums -- "Thankful" and "Breakaway," both on RCA -- she's sold 4.3 million albums in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Season two runner-up Clay Aiken comes in second with 3.7 million copies of one studio album and one Christmas album. In third is season two winner Ruben Studdard at 2.2 million for one studio album and one gospel set. Last year's winner, Fantasia, is fourth with 1.4 million copies sold of her solo debut.
None of the other albums released by "Idol" contestants (or wannabes) have yet sold more than 500,000 units. They include Justin Guarini, Tamyra Gray, RJ Helton, Jim Verraros, Kimberley Locke, William Hung and Josh Gracin.
However, Gracin is the biggest-selling of the latter group. His self-titled Hollywood country album has sold 412,000 to date.
- You can see the claim for Clay being the most successful at Talk:Clay Aiken (go to the bottom past all the personal life insanity). Wasted Time R 8 July 2005 14:14 (UTC)
[edit] Gay icon?
I don't think Kelly Clarkson is a gay icon. I think it was the work of a vandal, so I removed the "gay icon" link in the article to avoid possibility of a lawsuit. :-) Scott Gall 09:53, 11 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- People have been adding gay icon categories left and right for a long time, actually. And no, I don't understand it either. Everyking 11:00, 11 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Kelly is most DEFINITELY a gay icon. And why would there be lawsuits over someone being considered a gay icon? That doesn't make any sense. Calling someone a gay icon does not mean you are calling THEM gay. It is simply someone who is an icon to the gay community, and she most definitely is. I'm pretty sure I know the gay community better than you do, and I'm confident she is an icon. Sunoftheskye
- Is there some definitive source that can be consulted to find out which celebrities are actual gay icons so that we don't have to trust whichever editor, possibly doing original research in violation of the policies of this site, makes such a claim? *Dan* 00:52, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Regarding the gay icon issue, as a gay man having spent a good chunk of the summer at the gay beach mecca of Fire Island Pines, and listening to Kelly's songs being played over and over and over again I would say that if she's not an Icon yet, she's well on her way. The roar of the sweaty, dancing, muscular, shirtless crowd when the dj plays her music is tribal, primal and full of great respect. (I Love This Guy's Discription)
Well, I'm gay, my friend is gay and we both love her and know several others who love her! We also know other gays who don't like her, so, until she reaches the cult status of gay icon like Madonna, she will be an icon to just everybody and not just gays! However, at her L.A. show there were tons of lesbos who were cheering and dancing louder than anyone, so she might be more of an icon in the lesbian community!
Well first it was Liza Minneli(may be spelled wrong) and now it's Kelly Clarkson. I definitely like her and i believe all the boyfriends i've had as a man like to scream out "since you been gone" whenever it graces the radio.
[edit] Section titles
The new sectioning is a good thing, but "Thankful starts the fire" was inaccurate (her Idol win started her success, not her first album) and "Breakaway breaks records" also was inaccurate (what records has she broken?). I've put in two alternate section titles, but both are a little clunky, so better choices may be out there. Wasted Time R 15:00, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Breakaway broke many records: "Since U Been Gone" and "Behind These Hazel Eyes", two of the singles from the album, both broke a record on the Billboard Pop 100, "Breakaway" became the longest Adult Contemporary hit since Céline Dion's "My Heart Will Go On". Also, the album has sold more units than Thankful, even though Breakaway debuted at a lower number. Another achievement is that "Since U Been Gone" topped every chart it debuted on, with the exception of stalling at number two on the Billboard Hot 100. Finally (yes, I'm posting these in random order), Breakaway is currently the fifth-highest selling album of 2005, whereas Thankful was the ninth-highest selling album of 2003, and uncharted in 2004. This header should definitely be kept; I do think that changing "Thankful starts the fire" was a good idea, because I was listening to a song called "Start the Fire" at the time, and wanted to sort of play with it a bit, so thanks for changing that part. However, I would like to see "Breakaway breaks records" out there once again. DrippingInk 16:38, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)
-
- My opinion. These are either minor records or personal records. Not very spectacular. But whatever.
- I sort of agree with the anon statement, but don't have a problem with leaving it how it is now. Wasted Time R 01:31, 27 Jun 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Certification and accuracy of sales figures
Could I ask who in the world keeps adding the certification to the singles section at the bottom of the page? I've clearly stated multiple times that the certification can be found in the article, but it seems as though someone is totally against this. DrippingInk 12:57, July 12, 2005 (UTC)
- Ahem, does triple platinum not indicate 3 million copies sold in the United States?
-
- Triple platinum certification indicates albums shipped to retail outlets, minus returns, not albums sold: "It's a common misconception that certifications are based on sales to consumers. The RIAA issues gold, platinum, and now diamond certifications based on the number of units shipped to stores. So your favorite artist's latest album shipped three million copies, which is why it's already certified platinum even if all three million copies haven't passed into consumers' hands yet." [1] Soundscan totals for Breakaway are 2,663,599 through this week (week 33). I do see there's been quite a fuss about this in history; perhaps the editors should be kinder to those who try to insert the correct figures. -Jmh123 20:22, 22 July 2005 (UTC)
- It's funny how the link provides you with the same word-to-word that Jhm123 used. Plagerism is illegal, you know. DrippingInk 14:50, July 26, 2005 (UTC)
-
- I think you'd better check the definition and spelling of the word plagiarism: "Plagiarism refers to the use of another's ideas, information, language, or writing, when done without proper acknowledgment of the original source." Check for those little " marks in the above passage; they're called quotation marks; you use them when you're quoting someone. -Jmh123 18:54, 27 July 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Image overload?
Aren't all these (pretty similar) pictures of Clarkson's face pretty much overkill? This isn't a fansite, and beyond a few of them they add nothing to the article. -R. fiend 13:50, 5 August 2005 (UTC)
- The blonde hair look is a recent & latest look of Clarkson, so it's needed on the top of page. Albums & Singles' images are definitely necessary! The one she's performing is related to the article! Although this is not a fansite, but appropriate images in each section will easily capture people attention to read the article! By the way, those images are not similar at all!
-
- Well, no, they're not all necessary. Album covers are already on the album pages. Do we have every Beatles cover on the Beatles page? (No, we don't.) I'll grant you the blonde look at the idol photo, maybe one other, but the rest is just too much. -R. fiend 15:52, 5 August 2005 (UTC)
-
-
- Mariah Carey's page has every album covers on her page. And how many albums do Mariah have? Kelly only has 2, and 2 album cover weren't too much at all. It wouldn't hurt to insert all the album covers. Instead, it would even help the reader to remember the album. Don't trying to argue that it wouldn't help, because I can't remember all the Mariah's album before I found her page on wikipedia, but for now I remember all of her album completely & solidly!
-
Could someone please change the first photo of kelly clarkson and put on a real picture instead of a painting? It doesn't even look like her...
[edit] Other Accomplishments
Other than her obvious talent in singing, what else is she capable of or has done for her songs? Does she write the lyrics? How about the actual composing of the songs, or writing the tunes to her songs? Or does she only sing (and maybe write lyrics in between)?
[edit] Claim of 17 million worldwide sales, singles and albums
What is the source for this number? I believe there may be some confusion regarding platinum certification of sales in other countries, and of digital downloads. Platinum certification of albums in Canada = 100,000, Australia = 70,000. See Gold album. Thus, according to the data here, Kelly's album sales are over 5 million US, plus 200,000+ in Canada and 140,000+ in Australia. Total = a bit less than 5 and a half million.
Digital downloads are certified platinum at 200,000. See Singles certification. Platinum certifications listed here are based on a combination of singles sales in stores and digital downloads, thus making it difficult to discern actual sales figures, but it is unlikely that there is a combination of all singles sales and other unlisted overseas album sales equal to 11 and a half million. -Jmh123 16:28, 24 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Personal life
Text was edited to provide more general information about Kelly's personality and its reception by fans and the public at large. The name of her most recent boyfriend was removed (after it was posted and re-posted twice), and the comments made about her dating life have been kept to a minimum. Respecting privacy to a certain degree is the least that can be done -- seeing how Kelly (at this point atleast) continues to regard her new guy with relentless anonymity.
If it's in the best interest of fans out there to know who she is (probably) dating, then where does the issue of "how much personal information is too much information" stand?
This section is currently disputed, revisions (and/or elimination altogether) are more than welcome to alleviate its unintentional biased phrasing. The decision to expand amongst the section text was a mere alternative to simply removing it all. - Macroctxe 04:04, September 1, 2005 (UTC)
Who is Matthew Martino?
Please note the person noted as a romantic interest to Miss Clarkson has no affiliation with her whatsoever, and should be removed. Further inquiries may be directed to Roger Widynowski, Sr. Director Of Publicity of RCA, +1-310-358-4125. --The Firm 02:48, 3 September 2005 (UTC)
- And it should stay removed! ...along with the gossip editors. Thanks for the useful info. Ladies and gentlemen, always trust...The Firm. :) Drdr1989 04:02, 3 September 2005 (UTC)
- Much agreed! I'm happy that there's finally some official word on behalf of Kelly -- and for that word to come from high up the PR chain. Too much falsified information floats around, and if Kelly prefers to have her social life out of the media spotlight then so be it. Privacy = respect. - Macroctxe 22:01, 3 September 2005 (PST)
Why is Wikitino such a loser he has to keep reinserting his own name into this article? As the info has been shown to be false, at this point it would only be vandalism, and if it continues , user should be reported and banned. --The Firm 23:11, 7 September 2005 (UTC)
- No clue, I've noticed a lot of random insertions of bogus information too, I'm assuming the non-registered users that stumble upon this page feel that they have power over the article and it's content. I'm on the same page with the 'vandalism' part, if it keeps happening, their IP"s are wide open to block. - Macroctxe 08:30, 9 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Miss Independent
There is no video/DVD single of MI. The release that got certified Gold was the DVD with the same name that has music videos and live performances. (Just like Kelly's latest DVD release "Behind These Hazel Eyes" is not the same as the song) OmegaWikipedia 11:29, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
Actually, the Miss Independent single has been certified gold go here: http://www.riaa.com/gp/database/search_results.asp scroll down and you'll see it says CLARKSON, KELLY MISS INDEPENDENT 03/29/05 RCA RECORDS G SINGLE SOLO Dig
Dig meaning digital download.
How does she get an award for writing on Miss independent when she did not write it?
Since when did she not write on it? Check her booklet from her cd and you will clearly see her name, and her writing on the track has been discussed many times by both her, and Christina Aguilera who also wrote on the track. Kelly wrote the bridge of the song, and she also changed many things through out both lyrically and musically.
[edit] Minor revisions
Corrected the statement about only 2 never being in the bottom 3. According to Simon Cowell, Clay came in #1 every week except the final vote.
- Removed the irrevalent fansite listings to be consistant with the handling of the clay aiken page.

- Moved the Tours section to a more prominant placment - before the Discography and the miles and miles of listings of nominations and releases - where it essentially got lost. Michigan user 19:13, 21 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Duet on "Addicted"?
Where did the information on Clarkson dueting with someone on the upcoming "Addicted" come from? The last time I was listening to the song, Clarkson was singing on her own, unless of course, the single release includes the duet. To the anon. who added the information, please cite your sources. Winnermario 20:57, 23 September 2005 (UTC)
I agree. Also usually on CDs they credit the person if it was a duet. I have the cd and there is no credit for a duet! Tayhilrav November 2005
[edit] New heading
What the heck does "Career independence established" Actually MEAN?? Is this supposed to indicate that somehow she is now independant from her previous management or something?? It is rather murky. In fact Kelly is still tied to 19E (who was just granted formal trademark rights to the "Kelly Clarkson" name 2 weeks ago), and she still owes 19 some CDs which are then sub-contracted out to RCA. Can we change that to "Solo Career Established" which sort of indicates autonomy without misleading folks into thinking that any current relationships changed. hmmmm - re-reading it I guess that it is trying to convey a separation from American Idol. I still think that "Solo Career Established" is a better section heading. Michigan user 21:33, 23 September 2005 (UTC)
- I don't completely agree with you, but I see where you're going with this. Winnermario 01:17, 24 September 2005 (UTC)
-
- Well I went ahead and made that change - I really think it is more meaningful this way. Michigan user 14:52, 25 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Minor edits
removed:
- Having the single with the highest certification by the RIAA — quadruple platinum "Since U Been Gone". (This is for digital download certification. As opposed to in-store sales, for which 1,000,000 in sales is required, 200,000 digital downloads are required to certify a single platinum).
That honor belongs to Gwen Stefani (Hollaback girl) with 10X legal digital downloads 198.208.6.35 17:00, 5 October 2005 (UTC)
and
- The only artist in 2005 to have all of her singles be certified: a minimum of platinum ("Behind These Hazel Eyes"), double platinum ("Breakaway") and maximum of quadruple platinum ("Since U Been Gone"). (These are also digital download certifications.)
As soon as she released "Because of You" this statement ceased to be true. If it hits platinum, we can put it back. 198.208.6.35 17:00, 5 October 2005 (UTC)
- Thank you for your edits. Might I suggest that you revert your rephrasing of one sentence? "Clarkson is known for her bond with her fans," sounded better than "Clarkson has a nice bond with her fans". You appear to be making positive contributions, have you given thought to signing up and creating an account? Best regards, Hall Monitor 17:10, 7 October 2005 (UTC)
I always believed Kelly Clarkson's Since U Been Gone is the song with the most number of downloads. Hollaback Girl from Gwen Stefani was released as a cd single in stores. It sold one million cd singles thus having a 5x platinum certification as RIAA new rule is that platinum means 200,000 copies sold and no more 1,000,000 copies sold for cd singles. Although Since U Been Gone is 4x Platinum, it still have more downloads than Hollaback Girl as the latter deserves her 5x platinum due to the sales of her cd singles.
[edit] Removed 97.6 Chiltern FM appearance
Removed: Clarkson also covered the overnight show 3-6am at 97.6 Chiltern FM in Luton, England. Is this a one time appearance, if so when did it happen? 209.107.225.65 17:08, 7 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Removed Fan sites - again
Removed Fan site links, as has been enforced on other celebrity pages. Michigan user 12:53, 13 October 2005 (UTC)
- There has to be rationale behind the enforcement to remove. So far, none has been provided for this article. Further, no official policy supports removal of fan sites. I did trim this section earlier, but the way that it is now is ias far as it should go for the moment. Drdr1989 16:34, 17 October 2005 (UTC)
- The accumulation of fancruft (and linkcruft) on celebrity sites is a constant problem, with some of the links ending up being to really cheesy sites with little of interest -- either amateurish productions of teenagers, or exploitative faux-fan sites trying to get affiliate ad revenue. I don't mind a small number of links to the most notable fan sites out there for a given celebrity, but I can understand the desire on the part of some editors to hack away brutally at the link section due to the accumulation of garbage and the difficulty of constantly checking out links to see which are actually any good. *Dan T.* 16:47, 17 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Radio hits
The "three" that was originally posted; i.e., before it was changed to "four", was a mistake. It should have actually read "two". "Hazel Eyes" just missed the top, thanks to a 14-week run from Mariah Carey's We Belong Together. "Three" is the correct number as of now. Drdr1989 00:23, 16 October 2005 (UTC)
- The "three" applies of course to her current album. Drdr1989 16:35, 17 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] The Latest Issue
When exactly is "The latest Issue" of Pop-Star magazine?? A reference like this is almost immediately dated and a maintenance nightmare. Can somebody either substantiate this with a link - or reword the statement. Michigan user 21:18, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
- Reworded the sentence so that it would not become immediately outdated. Michigan user 02:26, 30 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Cleanup tag
I'm tagging this article for cleanup because I think it delves into too much detail. There is a lot of excess trivia about music videos for Clarkson's singles, her concert tours and the awards and nominations she has received. I suggest moving the "Awards and nominations" section into a List of Kelly Clarkson awards and nominations article or something (and noting in the edit summary that it came from this article), trimming the "Tours" section and merging it with the appropriate earlier sections about her career (the "UK chart performance" can be merged also), and removing the "Videography" section entirely and placing the information in the relevant single articles. Also, the article could do with references, but that is a secondary concern. Extraordinary Machine 14:35, 20 November 2005 (UTC)
- Also, there seem to be a lot of short, one-line paragraphs that could be merged with neighbouring ones. Thanks! Extraordinary Machine 14:48, 20 November 2005 (UTC)
-
- I don't disagree with this tagging. I understand the desire of the fan editors to include all of the minute details, but it doesn't really fit with the spirit of a general encyclopedia, which is what Wikipedia is supposed to be. - Shadowhillway 18:00, 20 November 2005 (UTC)
-
-
- No, the cleanup tag is appropriate; I attempted to reformat the entire article, but an anonymous user interrupted my edit by interfering with additional useless information. The edit conflict could not be corrected and I lost all of my edits — which took over forty-five minutes to complete. If anything, this article requires a block that will not allow anonymous users to edit. I am rather infuriated with what occurred, and something has to be done. --Hollow Wilerding 19:28, 27 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] What happened?
Kelly's article used to be one of the best of this site, it was filled with information unlike others...
it's so poor right now... please but back old info but in a more organized way... the trl and vh1 stats are missed as well... as well as the platinum certification from every country... ahhh just go back to the old one please!!
- Editors have been bold and taken out the trivial details and fancruft. The music video information belongs, if anywhere, on the articles for Clarkson's singles. This is supposed to be an encyclopedia article, not a collection of factoids. Extraordinary Machine 18:37, 28 November 2005 (UTC)
I think it's better this way. The old one contained too many useless information. This one is more organized and to-the-point.
-
- If I want regular facts, wich is all this article has right now I'll go to a Kelly Clarkson fan site... now if I want information, and every little single DETAIL that I can find, where do I search? in an encyclopedia... it's suposed to be rich and filled on INFORMATION, and that can happen in an organized and to-the-point way... honestly this article is terrible now... I can and I will find more information on Kelly on her fan sites...
This is an encyclopedia: we're supposed to summarise facts, not dump them all onto the table. Anyway, while I appreciate the efforts that User:Hollow Wilerding went to tidy the article from its pre-cleanup version, I'm compressing some of the sections again because I think the article is still swamped in excess information, which is why I originally tagged it for cleanup to begin with. Clarkson may have released just two albums, but that doesn't necessarily mean that we should discuss them in overwhelming detail. For example, compare this extract:
- The album's second single, "Miss Independent" (which was co-written by Clarkson and Christina Aguilera), was another success for Clarkson, reaching number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 and number six on the Canadian charts; it also peaked at number one for fourteen non-consecutive days on MTV's Total Request Live, and became her first music video to retire on the program.
- Music critics noted that both "A Moment Like This" and "Miss Independent" were fluke singles, and that Clarkson's career would decline with the release of the third single, "Low" — the critics were correct, as the single proved to be an underwhelming failure, peaking at number fifty-eight in the United States, however proved to be successful in Canada, peaking at number two, although its peak position could not be sustained, and "Low" quickly descended the chart. The fourth and final Thankful single, "The Trouble with Love Is", failed to even chart on the Billboard Hot 100, and because of this was not released in Canada. It did, however, reach number one on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart, equivalent to number one-hundred one on the singles chart.
To:
- The album's second single, "Miss Independent" (which was co-written by Clarkson and Christina Aguilera), was a top ten hit in the U.S., Canada and the UK, but subsequent singles "Low" and "The Trouble with Love Is" were far less successful, confirming speculation amongst music critics that "A Moment Like This" and "Miss Independent" were fluke hits.
And in the next section:
- Second single "Since U Been Gone" was released on December 14, 2004. The rock and roll–influenced heartbreak anthem peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100, and reached number one for two weeks in Canada, and has become Clarkson's biggest hit to date. "Since U Been Gone" was successful on several Billboard formats, and peaked at number one on the Hot Digital Tracks, the Top 40 Mainstream, and the Billboard Pop 100 and Billboard Pop 100 Airplay. It also reached number two on the Hot Digital Songs chart, and helped Breakaway to be certified platinum and double platinum in the U.S., and platinum in Canada.
With:
- The album's second single, "Since U Been Gone", peaked at number two on the U.S. Hot 100, was a top five single in the UK and reached number one in Canada, becoming Clarkson's biggest hit to date.
See the difference? Extraordinary Machine 17:21, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
- True, I was over-editing the article. Thanks for shortening it. However, I am going to replace the line: "Since U Been Gone" was successful on several Billboard formats. –Hollow Wilerding 21:00, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
I wasn't talking about the writting... I was talking about the sales and singles information at the end of the page! but it's better now, it's again filled with info... I just think that the music videos information should return as well...
[edit] Greek-Irish-German ?
Is she actually Greek? Her parents name are very non-Greek (mother's name "Jeanne Ann Rose"). All the references to Clarkson say she's "Greek/Irish/German", and all no doubt stem from the IMDB, who I wouldn't trust with that kind of information. Too many little tidbits from the IMDB, which are not even close to being correct, have been copied-pasted-and redistributed across the net. I think this might be another one. Does anyone have a good source for this? Like an in-depth interview or something that didn't come from the IMDB? 24.141.147.6 02:20, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Whistle register?
I'm just curious... I've never heard Kelly hit any really high notes. Can anyone tell me the name of a song on which she accesses the whistle register?
- Please sign your comments with ~~~~, even if you want to remain anonymous so that we can locate your contributions in a quicker manner than having to search through the edit history. Thank you. Clarkson reaches the whistle register in "Behind These Hazel Eyes" (Breakaway) and "Gone" (Breakaway) as far as I am aware of. —Hollow Wilerding 22:07, 10 December 2005 (UTC)

KElly did not, by any means, get high enough to be called Whistle Register in "Behind These Hazel Eyes." There is a moment when she has a very whispery high note after she screams "anymore" but it did not break the E6 boundry. She did however hit a whistle note in "Natural Woman"
[edit] Fifth single release
Anonymous users have been editing the article and adding the fifth single from Breakaway; unfortunately, it appears as though an edit war became of this, as both "Gone" and "Walk Away" were argued over Clarkson's next single. However, according to Billboard, "Gone" will be the fifth single release from Breakaway in North America, owing Clarkson the treatment of releasing each single in chronological order. [2]

Well, Kelly Clarkson officially said that the fifth single from the album in US will be 'Walk Away'. Someone has put that the single is ranked #53 in US. How is that possible? It has not yet been released to radio or digital download... Can the person please state its source. Or maybe someone subscribed at Billboard comfirm it...
- The single release date is wrong for "Walk Away" as the record is already receiving tons of airplay now. You gave the "release date" as January 18th?? Drdr1989 06:49, 26 December 2005 (UTC)
