Kelston is a residential suburb of Waitakere, one of the four cities that make up the Auckland metropolitan area in northern New Zealand. At the 2001 census, it has a population of 3,975.
Originally a ceramics manufacturing centre, the area is now mostly residential, including a number of schools. Kelston Boys High School is renowned for its rugby team, the famous keston boys high 1st XV. The school has produced a number of All Blacks, and regularly winning Auckland, nationwide and even worldwide secondary school rugby championships. It has also spawed many gangs over its time with teenagers representing their school and hood in the controversial way of gangs.SOK, DSK, JDK are just a few to name. Kelston also has also have many socalled beefs with a lot of other schools in the auckland reigon such as De La Sale, Avondale College and St Pauls. Other schools in the area include Kelston primary, intermediate and girls high schools and Kelston Deaf Education Centre
Kelston is known throughout Auckland as having a much higher percentage of Polynesian (samoan and Togan) than the Auckland median. The kelston hood is also home to infamous Ruberband-Man whos real name will be secret. Known by everyone as the KING of Kelston.This self proclaimed KING resides at the top of kelwyn Rd, center of kelston.
Kelston is also known throughout Auckland for being the most pimped out school. Statistic show that in the past few years, Boys from Kelston Boys High have stolen more girlfriends than any other school in Auckland, Maybe even the nation. Most of these numbers are were tallied up by Kelstons very own pimping legend "Jay" (Whose real name will be kept secret). The Legend "Jay" is associated with the infamous Ruberband-Man in all Pimping and Gambling incidents that occur in KelSton.
