Keith Breeden

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Graphic Designer, notable for his works with ABC and Scritti Politti. Breeden's logo work with ABC would display nuances of usage as the group reinvented itself from album to album. His varioius concepts for Scritti Politti would range from disarrayed wildflowers to chocolate bars and boxes to the many visual ways to reference Aretha Franklin, all suggesting elements of modern love at a period when Scritti was strongly establishing a transition to urban romance from a more DIY aesthetic that had previosly distinguished their sound. The band were all caucasion and on one cover of an early soul-inspired single a white chocolate bar is featured. During this period some of Scritti's work would be designed for US release by Jeri Heiden, who did their 1985 "Perfect Way" single cover in the United States. Heiden took cue from Breeden and injected some commentary on the transAtlantic situation by featuring postage stamps as her motif, along with handlettering and ripped paper edges.

Mr. Breeden took a new direction in 1995 and is now professional portraitist. According to a site advertising his services, a head and shoulders portrait will cost about $10,000.
