Keisei Oshiage Line
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Keisei Oshiage Line (京成押上線 Keisei-Oshiage-sen?) is a railway owned by Keisei Electric Railway Co., Ltd. that runs between Oshiage Station in Sumida Ward and Aoto Station in Katsushika Ward, Tokyo.
The tracks terminating at Oshiage Station constituted the original Keisei Line, but once the line from Ueno/Nippori to Aoto came into service, this segment was demoted to a feeder and renamed the Oshiage Line. Today its chief role is to carry travellers between the Toei Asakusa Line, Tobu Isesaki Line, and the Hanzomon Line (with connections at Oshiage) and the Keisei Main Line (connection at Aoto, with direct service to the Hokuso Line).
The Oshiage Line passes through areas typical of Tokyo's shitamachi ("lower city") working-class sections known for their distinctively earthy atmosphere.
