Kei (Japanese)

Kei is a Japanese male's personal name; used increasingly as a female's personal name, as a shortening of Keiko.
It may also refer to a type of bowl shaped bell that rests upon a cushion with the bell's mouth facing upwards. It is used to summon kami.
Kei is also used as a suffix, such as when referring to Shibuya-kei or Akiba-kei.
As a name, it is used in several anime series:
- Kei is a character in the Dirty Pair series of anime and manga.
- Kei Kurono and Kei Kishomoto are characters in GANTZ
- Kei Kusanagi is a character in Onegai Teacher
