Kefagn Patriotic Front
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kefagn Patriotic Front is a political faction in Ethiopia. KPF emerged out of a group of soldiers in the army of the regime of Mengistu Haile Mariam who refused to serve in the Eritrea war.
Initially the group had limited political character, and was mainly engaged in raids in the region around Gondar in northern Ethiopia. However, during the final stages of the Mengistu regime control over the organization was taken over by a group of five generals, and became more involved in national politics. At the same time, as the Tigray People's Liberation Front started emerging victorious in the internal conflict, KPF came into opposition to the new leadership.
In 1996 the majority of the KPF, based amongst guerrillas in Sudan and Ethiopia, joined the Ethiopian Unity Front. The minority, based in the USA, stayed out of EUF.
