KDMI is a digital-only television station that broadcasts out of Des Moines, Iowa on channel 56. It signed on August 28, 2006 as an America One affiliate.[1] KDMI currently carries MyNetworkTV and The CW on primary and secondary subchannels, with America One programming continuing at all other times on the MyNetworkTV subchannel. It is owned by Pappas Telecasting along with sister station KCWI-TV (formerly KPWB-TV), which broadcasts on analog channel 23.

Although Pappas Telecasting had initially announced that KDMI would solely be a MyNetworkTV affiliate, the lack of a digital signal for KCWI-TV led to The CW being carried digitally on channel 56 (which has the ability to broadcast them in HD). As MyNetworkTV's primetime lineup only airs six days a week for two hours, America One programming fills all other timeslots.

While both The CW and MyNetworkTV have HD programming, they will only have the CW in HD at this time. While the digital signal can handle 2 HD feeds, it will reduce the quality of both in order to make them 'fit' in the channel bandwidth. So, instead of broadcasting two so-so HD feeds, they are opting for one good HD feed and a good SD (standard def) feed.

At the end of analog broadcasting, KCWI-TV's will be converted to digital television and carry CW HD programs, allowing MyNetworkTV to appear in HD on KDMI.

Mediacom carries KDMI on Channel 20 in Des Moines.

The KDMI call letters were previously used for two different radio stations in Des Moines. From 1960 to 1994 they were used at 97.3 FM. After 97.3 became KHKI, the KDMI call letters were moved to 1460 AM before that station became KXNO at the beginning of 2001.[2]
