[edit] History
The airline was established on 8 October 1945 and started operations in 1946. It launched international services in 2004. It is owned by the government (51%) and employees (49%). [1] It announced on 27 May 2005 that it was to change its name from Kaliningrad Avia to KD Avia, partly to differentiate itself from the state-owned company of the same name which runs Khrabrovo Airport and which was recently charged with misuse of federal funds. Kaliningradavia itself had its operating licence suspended on 20 April 2005 due to faults uncovered in a Federal Transportation Observation Agency inspection, but had it restored on 14 May after these were rectified. Services restarted on 17 May 2005.[2]
