KCAA

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

KCAA is a talk radio station licensed to Loma Linda, California, USA. The 5,000-watt station broadcasts at 1050 on the AM dial. KCAA can be heard in such cities at Loma Linda, San Bernardino, and Riverside.

KCAA's most popular program is Imus in the Morning, which is played on a three-hour delay. It is the only outlet in Southern California to broadcast Imus. KCAA's programming, in general, is a hodgepodge of many different formats. For instance, on KCAA one can hear conservative talker G. Gordon Liddy, progressive talk host Barry Lynn, and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones.

KCAA had carried programming from Air America Radio, one hour each per weekday of Al Franken and Randi Rhodes, for the past two years. However, as of 2006, that programming has been displaced by local talk and the Air America programs only air one hour for each show on weekends.

KCAA has a fair amount of local programming, the most prominent being Talk Back, hosted by longtime broadcaster George Putnam. The Daily Briefing with Colonel Ray is also popular.

The station's slogan is "No listener left behind." Ironically, ratings services have not detected any measurable listenership in the Riverside-San Bernadino market since 2004. This is most likely why the station relies heavily on infomercial programming, such as The Truth about Nutrition.

Due to licensing restrictions, KCAA is only heard during daylight hours. The station does, however, stream its programming on the Internet and usually replays it during the nighttime hours.
