Kawardha is a city and a municipality in Kawardha district in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh.

Kawardha is located at 22.02° N 81.25° E[1]. The total area is 798 sq. m. The state consists of hill and forest. It has an average elevation of 353 metres (1158 feet).

As of 2001 India censusGRIndia, Kawardha had a population of 31,788. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Kawardha has an average literacy rate of 66%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 76%, and female literacy is 55%. In Kawardha, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age.
