Kawanabe District, Kagoshima

Kawanabe (川辺郡; -gun) is a district located in Kagoshima, Japan.

Following the Minamisatsuma merger but as of 2003 population statistics, the district has an estimated population of 28,788 and a density of 116 persons per km². The total area is 247.54 km².

On November 7, 2005 the towns of Bonotsu, Kasasa, and Ooura merged with the city of Kaseda and the town of Kinpo from the former Hioki District forming the city of Minamisatsuma.
