[edit] History

Katy High School, located in the small town of Katy, Texas, 30 miles west of Houston, opened in 1900 to serve the children of the local rice farmers. The discovery of natural gas fields in the early 1940's stimulated the economy and attracted teachers to the area, but Katy remained a very small community. In 1961, when Katy ISD absorbed a near-by district, the student enrollment in the entire district was 727.

For most of the twentieth century, KHS was the only high school in Katy ISD. In the 1970's the city of Houston began growing rapidly and the rice fields surrounding the town of Katy were turned into subdivisions. KHS is now one of six high schools in the district (two more high schools will be added soon, putting KHS as one of eight schools in Katy I.S.D.).

Katy High school was the scene of Borat's football lesson.
