Katie Carew, nicknamed Katie Kazoo by a class bully (George), had no idea what would happen when she wished that she could be anyone but herself. But now her wish has come true, and-switcheroo!-she keeps turning into other people and even animals! Katie Kazoo, is a fourth grader in the series of novels by Nancy E. Krulik, illustrated by John & Wendy.

Katie Carew, your typical puppy loving, pizza eating, camp going, jump rope playing fourth grader. Katie also happens to be an ovo-lacto vegetarian. Katie's adventures with the magic wind started last year when she was in third grade.She has a cocker spaniel which she loves very much. She'd had a terrible day. First she'd lost the football game for her team. She'd gotten mud all over her favortie pants, and burped really loud in front of her whole class, so she wished she could be some body else, and there must have be a shooting star cause her wish came true and everytime it did the magic wind came and switcheroo!

Katie as many friends but her best friend is Suzanne Lock, her stylish fashion friend who'd she been friends since kindergarten. And her other sporty friend Jeremy Fox, Suzanne and Jeremy don't get along very well. She also makes new friends like Emma Weber in fourth grade.

Katie goes to Cherrydale Elmentary School. Her third grade was Mrs. Derkman who lives beside her and Katie once turned into her third grade teacher. But now Katie is in fourth grader with a new and nicer teacher Mr.Guthrie, who has the kids sit in beabag chairs!
