Kati Patang

Kati Patang is a 1970 Indian Hindi movie produced and directed by Shakti Samanta. This was Shakti's 2nd film with Rajesh Khanna after Aradhana helped inititate the Rajesh mania. Asha Parekh(who had earlier given an insightful performance in Samanta's underrated film Pagla Kahin Ka(1970)) now has a stellar role in this film as a woman pretending to be a widow. She won the Filmfare Best Actress Award, the only win for the film. The movie also stars Nasir Husain and Prem Chopra.

The music of the film by R.D. Burman really established Kishore Kumar as the voice of Rajesh Khanna and R.D. Burman as the music director of the 70's.

The Shakti-Rajesh partnership is 9 movies strong to date.

The film is based on a published story by Cornell Woolrich titled I Married a Dead Man. It has already been filmed by Hollywood as No Man of Her Own (1950) starring Barbara Stanwyck.
