Kathmandu District

Kathmandu district, a part of Bagmati zone, is one of the seventy-five districts of Nepal, a landlocked country of South Asia. The district, with Kathmandu as its district headquarters, covers an area of 395 sq km and has a population (2001) of 1,081,845. Kathmandu is the most densely populated districts of Nepal and is also the capital of Kathmandu. However, the name 'KATHMANDU' is often considered synnomimous to the Kathmandu Valley which actually encompasses the two other adjoining districst Lalitpur and Bhaktapur
